“I don’t care” said Giovinco

The ‘Atomic Ant’ is adamant that the Bianconeri will get out of their current crisis and maintains he is unfazed by paper talk over his future…

Juventus welcome Lecce to the Stadio Olimpico this afternoon, hoping to end their four-game winless streak in Serie A, and diminutive striker Sebastian Giovinco was keen to reassure the frustrated fans that things would turn around soon.

The 22-year-old attended the Atletico Mirafiori tournament, played in honour of Alessio Ferramosca and Riccardo Neri, the Juve Primavera players who tragically died at the Vinovo training complex in December 2006.

“The supporters want us to show our character and will do just that,” Giovinco is quoted as saying in Tuttosport.

After a resounding 4-1 win away to Roma on March 21, Juve have picked up just three points in April and have slipped into third place in the Serie A standings.

The directors are now reportedly planning a high-profile summer transfer campaign and the Turin giants have been linked with the likes of David Silva, Franck Ribery, Diego and Antonio Cassano, with some sources suggesting that Giovinco could be used as bait to land the latter.

“This is what I read in the papers, but I don’t care right now,” insisted ‘Seba’. “I just want to finish the season on a high.”

Juventus Offer Sampdoria Giovinco, Almiron & €10 Million For Cassano – Report

Sportmediaset claims Juve directors proposed a tempting deal to their ‘Doria counterparts during the Lega Calcio meeting on Thursday afternoon when all top-flight club presidents were there to discuss the formation of the Lega Serie A.

The report suggests the Old Lady have offered Samp the full rights of Sebastian Giovinco and Sergio Almiron plus a €10million cash bag for the ‘Talentino di Bari’. Voices suggest the offer equals the €20m which Samp were looking for initially for their man.

Cassano has been persistently linked with Juventus, especially after doubts emerged in the Italian press over whether Diego will arrive from Werder Bremen.

There could be complications though as bitter rivals Inter have also been associated with the former Real Madrid hitman. Cassano has been in hot form this season with nine assists and 11 goals to his name.

Giovinco in Top 10 Italian Kids

Sebastian Giovinco, Azzurrini number 10, was named as the most talented Italian young player by Channel4.com. He’s currently playing for Juventus, scored 3 goals and gave 5 assists so far.

1. Sebastian Giovinco
The Atomic Ant may one day take the glorious Juve No 10 shirt off of Alessandro Del Piero, but for now he will be keen to learn from the legendary Bianconeri captain. His willingness to adapt to different positions shows great maturity. Skilled and fast like no other, he has so far proved that stature and strength count little compared to pure talent. That’s why Sebastian can be considered the destiny child of Italian football.
